    Guys,

As along term mac user as well as a PC user, how do you think we will stand in terms of Autodesk support. From what you are saying the new Intel based Mac hardware exceeds the minimum hardware requirements to run Revit. What logo it has on the laptop should not determine whether the Autodesk do or don't support this method of running Revit or any Autodesk software for that matter. The Mac has just become a PC clone, so I don't personally see a problem. Just would like to get your thoughts....

Here's a pretty good review of Boot Camp and how it works and the pros and cons for anyone interested:

Here's another glowing review of both Boot Camp and Parallels from a PC technician who has installed Windows XP on every machine imaginable. In his opinion, Apple provided the easiest experience he had ever seen.

Boot Camp will only allow a single OS to run at a time and is selected at startup. It probably offers the best option for running Revit due to Revit's heavy system requirements.

Parallels allows 2 (or more) OS's to run at the same time. OS X would be the base OS with Windows running within a virtual environment. Because of intel virtualization technology built into the chip, performance is nearly native (+/- 90%).

Why buy a Dell anymore? Prices for similarly-equipped Macs are very competitive - not at the low end, admittedly, but Apple doesn't want that type of customer anyway.

If you can't buy a Mac now, you can at least get the look of it. Go to www.flyakiteosx.com and download it. You will turn your XP into a Mac look-a-like.

Now that boot camp has been out for a while, has anyone really tested it with Revit? I'm want to buy a new laptop and can't decide between Dell, HP Mobile Workstations or a Macbook Pro. The workstations will allow 4 gigs of ram, but 2 gig chips are super expensive now. I'm not sure the workstations are worth the extra coin. I'm tired of my current laptops that always have a problem.

I haven't seen anyone running bootcamp with Revit. But over on the Maxwell forums someone benchmarked a Core Duo Macbook with Bootcamp and it's screaming fast. It's about 50% faster rendering than my dual Xeon 2.66's. Considering how temperamental Maxwell is, if it can render that fast, It can probably do everything else pretty well.

If you go to www.maxwellrender.com and select community it'll take you there. You may have to register to see the forums.

that is a good news. I always want to own a MAC, but since I am using Revit main for my work, I have no choice but buy I PC. Now it might be a hope I can own a MAC.
