I believe ADT & Revit have such functionality.
There are routines ( LISP / VBA ) available for AutoCAD that will automatically draw a Building Grid ( Search here on AUGI or the web ).

You can also use the toolpalet ‘Design’ and select here ‘Structural Column Grid’
This only works in ADT (sorry mike, forgot to mention it at the beginning of this thread).
See example attached, every thing you see is done with the command.
