    Default HIDDEN parameters

    In complex families i often use some calculated parameters which aren't directly applied to any object in the drawing, but are used by other calculated parameters in order to have lighter formulas: why to show these intermediate (type or instance) parameters in the inserted family? I think that a check box (visible/invisible) would be associated with each parameter, so that you can change its visibility state and simplify the editing of type/instances. Moreover, it would be useful to have another field for each parameter, allowing to insert an extended description of the parameter itself: this extended description would be showed in the bottom of the dialog box of the properties of instances or types of the inserted family. So you should have these field for each parameter:

    PARAMETER NAME (string)
    ->NEW PARAMETER DESCRIPTION (string)
    ->NEW VISIBILITY STATE (boolean)
    PARAMETER VALUE (variant)
    PARAMETER FORMULA (...)
    PARAMETER GROUP (...)

    Great wish!

    I think I may have also asked for this one in the past. Until the factory provides this ability there are a few things you can do to simplify your families. First off, but all of your calculation parameters down at the bottom of the list under the "other" category. This will make a big difference - out of sight out of mind. Secondly, it is possible to "grey out" some of your parameters so that they can't be altered by the user. This will also help to visually clean thing up. See my attached post for info on how to do this.

    Thank you, Scott; but, I've already tried it: the problem is that i always try to use parameters for everything, so it is difficult for a user of a family different from me to clearly understand the use of that family. I attach a family file: in this way the developers -perhaps- may realized the usefulness of my -our- wish.

    FWIW, you can create hidden parameters with the API. Maybe some enterprising developer will make a GUI for you.

    Hope that helps,
