Dear Friends,
I can only open 3 DWG files open at one time? Do I have something set wrong?
Thank you,

Hi
What exactly happens when you try to Open the fourth drawing file ?
Is there a Message of some sort displayed ? If yes, what exactly does it say ?
What version of AutoCAD are you using ?
Have a good one, Mike
Maybe some info on your computer too...
Ram and Hard drive size...
In AutoCAD 13 days some of our older computers with little ram did that too...
I have 1.5G of memory, 300G hard drive with 200G empty.
It closes one and opens the forth.
There is no message.
2006 Full.
Thank you,
Roland
~baffled~ hmm... looking at the options > systems, I see single drawing mode, checked or unchecked, but, I've never seen an actual limit.
this may be a total shot in the dark, but, are you drawing files off of a server or something, who's IT settings may restrict number of files being accessed at once?
any chance you've got some custom programming running that would limit this either?
oh, another question... has this always happened? or is this something new?

Hi Roland,
I've never ran across a limit or anything to set a limit, either.
Does it give you the option to save or discard changes to the drawing it is closing before doing so?
Out of curiosity, what is TASKBAR set to? Try setting it to 1 and see, when you look at the Windows Taskbar, how many it shows. Are they all shown there?
I head the same problem some years ago with r14. 3 desktops with the same configuration and one had the problem that it was just possible to open one drawing.
The solution here was founded in the registry, setting of Acad drawing models. But if this is the same problem as yours … I don’t now the right key anymore for the r14… maybe someone else does…
There is the system variable SDI which is Single Drawing Interface.Originally Posted by Olaf.Banckaert

1 will limit you to one drawing only.
I don't recall if this is the same setvar that 14 used.
Sadly this doesn't help Roland, I'm hoping he will post again if he figues it out.
Thank you all for all your help.
If nothing else it is reassuring to be able to turn to so many knowledgeable people for help.
It finally came down to reinstalling the program.
After that there was no limit.
Again, Thank you all for your great support and help.
Take care,
Roland
Hi Roland,
Thanks for posting your solution. I think it may help any others with this problem.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.
