Hatch Pattern Palette Locking Up in ACAD 2007

This is a known bug that AutoDesk refuses to fix (have reported bug reports and emails back indicate this). This is going to be a very difficult release to implement company wide for most companies, as it has a ton of bugs in it, for some reason AutoDesk thought adding new 3-D features was more important than fixing old bugs and consequently caused a ton of new bugs in the process.

When I try to insert a hatch (from the Hatch and Gradient Dialog box) I select "..." (Hatch Pattern Palette) this will lock up ACAD every time. Is there a way to fix this ? Is this a bug ?

We have the same problem: by opening the hatch dialog and clicking into the
window showing "swatches", I am getting the hourglass while the program freezes.
I re-installed without success.
This 2007 version that is part of Revit Series-Building bundle
We have some other versions with an Architectural desktop bundle which is working just fine...

any other ideas than the so far posted solutions?
