    Hi

My client is considering two different brands of printer to support his Revit needs in the future.

The HP Color Inkjet Printer cp1700 (ps).

    And the Epson 1520.

Any feedback on the two of these printers, would be appreciated.

I've worked with both... I think the Epson prints better photos and the HP prints better everything else. The HP is also faster and more trouble free. Plus since all our laser printers are HP, we end up with a consistant interface across the board.

    Andrebaros,

I'm considering the same comparison. I am replacing an HP 1220C that died (prematurely in my opinion). I have read mixed reviews of the HP CP1700. Paper jams, too large borders, bad drivers, etc. Have you had any of these problems? Love my HP plotter, but the experience with the 1220C and the mixed reviews on the CP1700 make me a little leary.

    Thanks for any help.

    Brian

in a growing budjet i definitivly would choose

    1700 base printer
    2600n better page cost
120 state of art to print photorenderings (a5 » a1+)

the epson 1520 is out of date
    and is an outsider

    Fernando,
Would I be best served by buying a printer with Postscript? What purpose does it serve?

    Thanks,
    Brian

The Epson is still out there because it prints amazing photos... even with all the fancy new models out there I still used my friends old Epson to print my portfolio.

That said, here in the office we have the HP1700 and were so happy with it we bought a second. No problems at all. We had to add the second for more speed and calculated that we could by 4 1700's for the cost of 1 faster printer with the same quality (at the time or purchase). Instead of buying the 1700 with the internal NIC we use an external HP port... 1 ethernet port in, 4 parallel ports out.

HP, Epson, Epson, HP... Let's stir it up.

Brother HL-2700CN is a color laser for $700. I never worked with the particular printer, but I definitely respect the underpromoted brand.

wow... that's certainly a great deal but I still think that the only benefits to laser printers are speed and reliability and that the inferior quality doesn't justify the switch from inkjet... not to mention the paper size restrictions.
