    Default "Malfunctioning" delete key

I usually delete objects in my drawing using the delete key, rather than 'E' or 'Erase' - recently it's turned into a hotkey that translates in the command box to:

    Command: MIDP
Command: Line from the Middle of
    Command: Specify first point: of

It's then in a state ready to draw a line.

Suffice to say, it no longer deletes!

I've tried the pickfirst variable command to no avail - anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi Emile,

Have you changed hardware lately, or are you running special software or custom menus?

You might also have a look at THIS and see if any of it applies.

Other than setting pickfirst to 1, that is all I can think of. Someone else may have other ideas.

    Hi

If PickFirst = 1 and you can not Erase Objects via the "Delete" key ( ID: TS49898 - Selected objects not erased when DELETE key pressed )...

Maybe look at this ( RE: Keyboard short-cuts ).

    OR

Has someone ( or yourself ) recently made changes in the Accelerators section of the menu file ? Though I do not think you can redefine the "Delete" key unless you use the Control or Shift key in-combination with it.

    OR

    ...

    Have a good one, Mike

Thanks guys - they're both very helpful - it sounds like the right track. Unfortunately I can't find those options under those menus, I think they've been moved for the 2006 version. It seems Autocad likes to move things so we poor saps can't find where they were originally!
Someone was toying around with my computer - might have to go and abuse them and tell 'em to fix it!
