Default Quick/dumb way to make see thru objects

I'm just working on a roof of a large house and in 3D wanted to see thru to the walls underneath the roof without hiding the roof. I used the Demolish tool to make the roofs transparent -- and tweaked the Phase - Temporary material to something other than the blueish hue that it is by default.

This is allowing me to figure out to make the roof line less ugly on this project

...then you'll have to undemolish the objects to bring them back to life.

You're only half right here Wes... it's quick, but not too dumb at all. Nice tip.

That's a nice tip Wes; Particularly as it works in hiddden line view as well as shaded. It's very easy to undemolish too. Thanks,

    Joe

I've actually taken the additional step of modifying the concrete material used on floors and roofs to be semi-transparent.

This is our office standard, and makes it very easy to layout beams. I can give more instructions if you're interested.

Another way is to change the roof material to glass.

Wes, I do almost exactly the same thing...but I demolish it in a phase after all the rest....called 'presentation - see thru roof'...then you dont have to change anything for the rest of the views, and when I want to see it transparent, I change the phase

Thanks Alex -- you've turned a half-baked tip into an übertip
