Default slow switching drawings and slow commands

I'm running ADT as Autocad 2006. I've just bought another new machine and installed Autocad (full install).
    The problem:
When I go to switch between drawings (nothing very big, simple linework and text) there is a defininte lag (3 to 4 seconds).
The same thing happens when I select ISOLAYER or the UNDO command.

I've found similar threads but they all seem to deal with drawing file content/size. None of these apply as it happens on a fresh drawing. There's a variable here to be changed but I can't seem to find it.

I just answered my own questions...

My "make objects layer current" wasn't working so I found this thread

    http://forums.augi.com/showthread.ph...hlight=AI_MOLC

I had renamed my acad.mnu (mnl) file to something else and so it wasn't reading the original acad menu file anymore. I've made a copy of the original and renamed acad.mnl to my new menu name and "SHAZAM" it works great.

Thanks Mike for your work on this forum.

    Actually it didn't work completly.

It appears that It is still slow switching between drawings and the ISOLAYER comand and make object layer current are still slow.

How are you switching between drawings? If you try different methods, is the speed problem the same?

Drawings open okay on the new machine. This will happen even if I start from scratch with a new drawings so I know it's not content that's giving me problems.

Only Autocad and only some commands.
Actually, I just played with something.. I kept hitting _AI_MOLC and and interesting thing happend....
the command was slow only on the 9th or 11th try when I clicked fast. When I clicked slow, only the 3rd or 4th one was slow - hence it was slow about every 10 seconds. Very weird.
Exact same thing with LAYISO - every 10 seconds it's slow

Same thing applies with switching drawings - within 10 seconds, it's fast, after 10 seconds or more it is slow.

BTW, my autosave is every 10 minutes.

There HAS to be logical explanation here somewhere.

If you use Ctrl+Tab, do you have the same problems?
