BUG - Save 2007 DWG format down to 2000 format - Copy, Paste and others stop working

Well now, looks like I get to join this "happy" conversation.

We're slowly "upgrading" from AutoCAD 2005 to AutoCAD 2007 LT (no jokes, please, it's painful enough). I'm having the same problems with '07 drawings saved down to '04 format. Found the hotfix, installed it, and now get a new error message (see attached). Oh yeah, and the problem isn't fixed - the commands still don't work and my guys are still locking up and/or crashing.

From what I understand the FIX for this doesn't work with LT, so full versions of 2007 will be needed. But there is a hotfix on AutoDesk's website for AEC object problems? Anyone else get the impression that 2007 was no where near ready to ship?

Actually, the hotfix will work with AutoCAD LT 2007. You don't even need LT, because you can use the free DWG TrueConvert, hotfix that, and then use it to resave the drawings to fix them up.

Yup - you hotfix the lower version (in my case, 2005) then get the OE for 2007 (why did they stop preloading this?!?!?!) and THEN it all works again...

Of course now I've got a friend who's running 2006 and being sent ABS 2007 files that you need the ABS OE for or else all of your objects look like rectangles...but that only works if you have ACAD 2007. Yeah, it's downloading onto my machine at home as we speak...very slowly...

only myself and the cadd manager have upgraded to 2007, the rest of our office is still using 2006 and we save down to 2004 format. We are having the same problem and are not even using 2000 format in any way.

The problem is happening with all previous releases. When 2007 tries to talk to anything other than itself, the error messages start cropping up, hence why there's a hotfix for all of the different releases.

I am afraid I have to open this thread up again. I have 2007 installed and having the same problems when i go into 2006 (no Aec objects,a bunch of errors,ETC) i have downloaded the hotfix for 2007 and 2006. also the object enablers.. and followed this thread.. It worked for 4 days. I called my reseller and they said i have to reinstall both 2006 and 2007. i have done a considerable amount of customizing on 2006 and cannot just "uninstall" it.. my reseller said it has something to do with a conflict with Norton or symantec registry.. If anyone has a different solution. PLEASE HELP!!!!
I really dont want to uninstall 2006.

How about uninstalling Norton/Symantec and using an a/v package that doesn't try to take over the entire OS ?

Actually, copyclip only appears to work (no error messages) It fails (no temp dwg created for pasting). So that is why Ctrl-V fails.

any attempt to wblock (which is really what copybase or clipboard copy does in AutoCAD when selecting objects). fails. ("Error writing/closing file").

I open a 2004 dwg using 2006 and saved as 2000. (recall 06 uses 04 format dwgs -- I think 07 uses same format).
I don't think it is ADT issue.

No solution. But, for some dwgs saved to 2000, I was able to export only by FIRST making a block in the dwg, then wblocking that block (block name =). But this is not working for this project.

wblock * works, I can open that and then erase everything but what I want change the insert and move stuff. THEN I can insert that into whereever. BUT... To time consuming.

I have the same problem. Save from LT2007 to LT2000 copy & paste don't work. I hope AutoCAD know how inconvenient this is. Most of our clients whant it in 2000.

I just followed along this thread and got my problem fixed ... the acdb17.dll is the key too all who are having this copy/paste issue. Once I replaced the dll in AutoCAD 2007 I could save down dwg to 2000 format and copy/paste like a champ.
