Default UCSFollow variable not saved within drawing

Whenever I set the UCSFOLLOW variable to 1, it always defaults back to 0 if I close the file and re-open it. This is very frustrating as I have to change it every time I open the drawing.

I never had a problem with this on older versions of AutoCAD (2006 and earlier).

Is there something I need to do to make sure this does not re-set?

    Thanks.

    Hi

As far as I know the behaviour of UCSFollow has not been altered in AutoCAD 2007.

Is it being automatically set within a file like...

    Acad.lsp
    AcadDoc.lsp
    Custom.mnl
    etc

    Just checking here...

You do realise UCSFollow is per Tab ( Model and Layout(s) ) and per Floating Viewport ?

    Have a good one, Mike

I've found the same problem as you, so have contacted Autodesk to see if this is a bug with 2007. Apparently it is and they are aware of it. They have sent a Lisp file as a short term workaround solution for now. Basically, all it does is force UCSFOLLOW to 1 each time a drawing is opened. Works great - just copy it into the SUPPORT directory of AutoCAD and you're away.

7 months later and I still having the same issue...

Is this lisp routine still the best work around? Will this be fixed in v2008?

Over a year later, we are now having this problem on about half of the machines in the office. It started with the upgrade to 2008. Does anyone have a better solution than switching the setting via startup lisp. That kind of goes against the whole reason the setting is file specific in the first place, doesn't it?

Just curious. Have you played around with VISRETAIN?
Not sure whether it has anything to do with the ucsfollow, but whenever I have issues with layers and viewports this is one of the first things I check and most of the time it does.

according to help, the setting is ignored in paperspace, and is kept separate from modelspace, or from inside each viewport. we have ours set at 0 as we dont have a necessity to change it otherwise, I have no problem working at an angle to the drawing space.
