Default LT 2006 running very slow on Windows XP SP2

I've just rolled out a new installation of 2006 LT across a number of machines in my office. It works fabulously on the older XP SP1 machines, but on the new machines (which are p4 2.8 with 1gig of ram and XP SP2) it absolutely crawls. It can take upwards of 2 or 3 mintues just to open the program. It pauses at 99% on loading, for quite a while.

I've installed the SP1 for autocad, and it hasn't done anything to help speed things up. I've been searching for a solution for several days now and I'm at a complete loss.

On the Autodesk discussion groups, someone mentioned speeding things up by deleting the plotter wizard from the plotters directory - but when I go to that directory, there's just a help file named 'Where are my plot configurations', and when I open it, I just get 'Page cannot be displayed'

Thanks for any help you could give me on this matter.

Then you are looking in the wrong place.

By default, the plotters are located at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2007\R17.0\enu\plotters

(text in blue varies depending on username, product, version, and language.)

You can also look in OPTIONS, Files Tab, under Printer Support File Path, then Printer Configuration Search Path

I found that and tried it, but it didn’t speed anything up? It still crawls.
    Thanks

Filemon, free from here, may help you find the cause. Of course, it may not.

    Hi

Have you tried the forum search facility ( hint - limit search to appropriate forums )...

    Key Word(s): Slow

    Slow + *Window*

    Slow + Open

    etc

Below is an example thread from using something like the above search criteria...

    Slow dialog boxes!

    Have a good one, Mike

Thanks Mike, I did try to do a forum search yesterday. I found that I had to wade through a lot of revit and other programs, but I did manage to locate a few ideas. Nothing seems to be working yet, but we'll keep trying.

    thanks again eh!
