Default Open a doc from in a dwg with a click

Question is with AutoCAD 2006 (or 2007), can ya click on lets say a manhole symbol on a drawing and the symbol pull up the separate butterfly drawing to your screen, then click the X on the butterfly and it go away and the map you were viewing still be visible?? I looked into this in 2002 and there was even a software called Aperture, it had GUI buttons that allowed the typical GUI of even when ya opened up the butterfly, the butterfly AutoCAD drawing can have GUI buttons that lets say if ya click on a button on that sheet it could open up a picture of the manhole or a word document about that manhole or a excel spread sheet about that manhole.

Does anyone have a clue about this? The above is from a coworker... in a nutshell he wants to be able to click on a dwg and open another document from right there, then be able to close that doc out and be right back where he was in the original dwg file.

I think you are referring to a hyperlink. I haven't used them much, but I think what you are looking for is possible.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.

Yes it is hyperlinks... Very easy to use, simply put the docs somewhere easy to find (ie on the server or the same directory as the dwg file). Then make what ever you want into a hyperlink (block, text, ect) and when you select it it will take you there.
