We are having a bit of a dilema in our office at the moment, one of the guys here is getting an upgrade to Autocad LT 2004. According to the system requirements he needs a minimum 800mhz pentium 3 etc etc...

Now here is the part that gets me, those are HIGHER specs than Autodesk quote for Revit!! - there is a limited IT budget in the office, I am on a 2 year old PC which meets the quoted minimum for Revit, and is just about the min for Autocad LT - and the guy with LT is getting a new PC, with a much higher spec than the one I am on......... what on earth does LT 2004 do that is more taxing than Revit on your hardware???? or could it be that the Actual specs for Revit are quoted lower than they ought to be?

My laptop is a PIII 800Mhz with a 20GB disk and 512 KB RAM. I keep seeing that the video card will have little effect on Revit so the 4MB unit in the machine ought to be okay?

Working on the laptop is so slow that I can't find a suitable metaphor.

I started using Revit with a minimum specs machine and, yes I would say the min. specs are not enough. Here's a metaphor. "Slower than a city worker checking a set of plans".
