Question Re: AutoCAD 2006 crashes about every 45 minutes while Panning?

would you mind posting your system specs? do you have the service pack(s) installed? is this something new? for you? any additional details and history might jog something for someone. Thanks.

If it's happening during zoom/pan operations, it's almost certainly related to your display adapter and/or it's driver.

Can you tell us the model and version of the driver?

    Hi John

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

I read all of those topics and it may be possible that a lisp routing is causing this, but i'm not even sure how to test if it is. I get the fatal error when i am not in a command just straight panning with the wheel.

i have service pack 1 installed
It's a windows xp machine and i have 2 monitors 1 crt 1 20in flatscreen using the ATI FireGL V3100 Video Card set to 1600 x 1200 dpi at 32bit

    i'm running a 3.79GHz pentium 4 CPU with 1GB of RAM

the os has service pack 2 installed and it's windows pro version 2002.

i've only had 06 on my machine for a week and didn't get the problems until yesterday when i started using it all day long.

as an fyi... with 2002 LDT3 everytime i'd shut down i'd get a run time error, not sure if these are related.

i still have LDT3 installed on my pc, haven't uninstalled it yet as i've learned that 06 now references locations from LDT3 which is less than exciting, i had to remap about 10 paths for LDT06

I still bet it's related to the display adapter and/or its driver.

Same card as in my desktop machine here. But what driver are you running? Mine is 8.163.1.0

Had that same problem on LDT3 also. Doubt if it's related.

Remap 10 paths? Do you mean support file search paths? Why?

version 5.1.2001.0 I'm not sure where to get the update?

Yeah, search paths in support, i tried to do it in the deployment but the deployment must have gotten overwrote when i migrated some of my LDT3 stuff....

seems the thing to do is not migrate and totallly uninstall LDT3 and install LDT06 but i DID NOT want to lose pgp and other settings.... so now pay by having to copy the "data" folder from LDT3 into LDT06 AND remap all of the preferences also... argggg

I have it down pat here....

    Standard deployment - no changes
    Standard install - no migration
I setup all paths in "acad.lsp"
"sdsk.dfm" resides in network location (which happens to be at TOP of support file search path)

I have 70+ users set up like this with no problems.

it's the migration that is messing it up i think. we do quite a bit of costumization to the deployment though modifying the locations of the ctb file path, the printer pc3 and .pmp locations, the template location etc are all on our server and not the individual pc. we all share the pc3 ctb's and .pmp which works out really well to eliminate 1 person having 1 thing and nobody else having it.

there is 1 template also that we all reference on the server, but it's read only.

migrating apparentlly from what i read, is an issue and has been since day 1.
