Help! For some reason, my layer manager will not display. I tried clicking the icon, typing the "layer" command, tried getting to it through various menus. Nothing!
I'm using AutoCAD 2005 full edition.
Any clues?

I saw some similar forums:
filedia is set to 1
cmddia is set to 1
ran an autolisp routine to clear my layer filters, there were only two.
These did not help me out.
I also tried restarting my computer.
I tried seeing if my layer manager was offscreen, but that does not appear to be the problem. When I us alt+spacebar, it gives me a dialog box pertaining to AutoCAD window, not the layer manager window. This makes me think the layer manager did not open.
What version of Microsoft .NET Framework are you running, 1.1 or 2.0?
I believe I'm running v1.0.5000.0
I would try installing 1.1 with its service release (K886903), but NOT 2.0, and see if that fixes it.
Also, does -LAYER (the command line version) work?
Tim
The "-Layer" command DOES work in the command line.
Still no manager.
I will try to upgrade to .NET 1.1
Thanks for the help so far. I'll re-post as soon as I get that done.
Tim-
It worked! Thank you!
I installed the .NET 1.1 package, and suddenly my layer manager show up again. Why?
Thanks again for the help.
I'm glad it worked.![]()
All I know is that the dialog runs off of .NET, and different versions can cause problems sometimes. The rest is over my head. Maybe someone else will chime in with the reason.
