Question AutoCAD LT 2006 - Update Xref paths when updating folders

Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to update xref files enmass when you are updating your computer filing system? Basically we are using Autocad LT 2006 and need to overhaul our computer filing system. Unfortunately, the moment we rename any folders or move any folders, it stuffs up the file path for the xrefs. Is there any way to overcome this problem? Having to sit down and realign the file path for 1000's of xrefs is not an option! Thanks

Have you looked at reference manager that comes with autocad, you can re-path files easily with that.

Yes, the reference manager is the key, you can update all the drawings XREF's by project that way. Its fairly easy to use, bring in all the drawings with XREF's in a single project, select all the xref paths by shift clicking or CTRL clicking, and change the path to the new folder. Save changes and open the drawings from the next project. Still could be allot of work but much better than opening individual drawings!

Hi "mei-yun" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi

As far as I know, AutoCAD LT does not ship with Reference Manager ( unless it now ships with AutoCAD LT 2007 ).

The following post offers a Third-Party solution ( LinkFixerPlus for AutoCAD )...

    Have a good one, Mike
