    Default Dell 20" Widescreen

I am looking into new monitors for the office, and I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with widescreen monitors? In particular Dell's 20" Widescreen.
Since us cad users draw drawings/sheets that are rectangular in shape, I want to know if there is any noticeable advantage to having a wider monitor to suit the sheet shape?
Is it actually more of a pain in the *** for other applications?

The regular Dell 20" monitor (1600x1200) has quite a bit more screen real estate than the wide screen version (1680x1050) of the 20". The Wide screen version is just a tiny bit wider and a whole lot shorter. The regular 20" is definitely the way to go.

Unfortunately, the 20" regular is out of the question due to price as we can get 19" for about 1/3 of the price of a 20". So it's between 19" regular and 20" widescreen.

I'm running a 20" Philips 200P6IB which has significantly more screen than the 20inch widescreens and for not much more $$$. Runs Revit very nicely.

I think the best way to go would either be dual 19" displays or a single 24" widescreen, as the 24" widescreen is just a little taller than a regular 4:3 19" display. So with the 24" widescreen you're actually getting a ton more real estate than with the regular 19".

    I run dual 19's at 2560x1024, so I definitely wouldn't waste money on a 20" widescreen.

Actually, just thinking further about it, I could probably get 2 x 19" for not much more than 1 x 20" widescreen. I think that might be the way to go, with far more screen real estate.

I have the Dell 24" 2405FPW and I love it. I am running it at 1920 x1200. The 20" is great too, but if you can talk them into a 24" I would. Hope that helps.

Woohoo, it's been decided by management to give dual 19" monitors a go.
