Default Publishing to DWF causes fonts to misbehave

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS PUBLISHING LARGE SETS OF DRAWINGS FROM LT 2004 TO DWF. FONTS ARE NOT RECOGNIZED OR APPEAR DIFFERENT AND AS FUNNY SYMBOLS AND BOXES WHERE THE TEXT SHOULD BE?
