I believe there are some examples on Autodesk's website in the download area. If not, the help tutorial is pretty good.
Nope
I basically want to add an "opening" in a wall to be a niche. For instance, say I have a 6" wall....I want to add an "opening" in the wall that, basically, is a shelf inside the wall. It could be 42" up from the floor, 36" wide and 36" tall and 4" deep (no thru-the-wall penetration).
Thanks....

OK.
How would I go about making one like that?
I've tried it....I obviously did it wrong....
Thanks!

Create a mass element the size you want in the location you need. Then right click on the wall select body modifer-Add. You can choose from additivie, subtractive and additive/cut openings. You want the additive cut openings. Now you're done. See attached.Originally Posted by marvcad

Marv, do you want a window, or a wall void? If you need to create an actually opening, I'd use the opening tool and create and opening, if you need to create a partial void in one side of the wall, follow this instructions from the above post. If you need to "drop in" a window, I'd suggest you look at using windows, they are much more friendly.

Yes, I want to make it user-friendly. The niche doesn't penetrate the wall entirely.
I tried modifying a window style, but not successfully. It kept punching clear through the wall.
How can I get the window style to not penetrate the wall?
Thanks for yor help!
