Question managing layers from imported files

Looking for an easy way to manage layers from a drawing I received from a surveyor. He has dozens of layers - I would like to incorporate the survey into my drawing, but with a manageable set of layers. If I copy the survey into my drawing all of the layers come along. So, I'm trying to delete layers but with several of them I get a box that says I cant delete certain layers, including layer 0 & defpoints, the current layer, xref dependent layers, or layers containing objects. Any advice? Thanks, Lee Hammack

    Hi Lee.

First open the surveyor's file, set 0 as the current layer and Purge All (more than once, if necessary).
After that you will need either to run other routines (like Superpurge) or start deleting objects or moving objects to different layers.
