Question AutoCAD 2007 - How to select Objects that are on top of one another

This falls under the category of "What the he77did they do that for?".

Prior to 2007, if I needed to select one of several objects located at the same place, I would press CTRL+Left Click to cycle through the objects. 2007 has a new way, which I thought was to locate the cursor over the objects and press the spacebar until the "object of desire" was highlighted.

It doesn't work anymore. Do I not remember the proper technique, or is there a setting I need to change?

Question Re: AutoCAD 2007 - How to select Objects that are on top of one another

    Hi

Are you referring to the following...

Link - "So here is another 3D Hip Tip for AutoCAD 2007 - Using the Ctrl key and Spacebar for editing: by Lynn Allen" - in post "RE: Breaking info on AutoCAD 2007".

    Have a good one, Mike

I wasn't referring to the article.... However, I checked it out and Lynn's tip seems to confirm the technique. But it isn't working. AutoCAD (ADT, in my case) won't cycle through the objects. It will only select the one on top.

Problem solved in a post from JTB world. The trick is to press Shift+Spacebar to cycle through objects.

That's good info, I was recently asked this same question during a training session.

The system variable LEGACYCTRLPICK resets it back the way it should be.
You dont want to use too many fingers on the keyboard....

    Ahhhhhhhh , that's better.

While shift-spacebar works for objects in the drawing, it won't find anything overlaying linework from an xref.

Who do we hold accountable for shift-spacebar, and what should we do to them?
