hi, checking out the 'similar threads' tool at the bottom of this page shows a post speaking on this topic, and a lisp routine that could possibly help. will it work for you?Originally Posted by RCA4697

Hi "RCA4697" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )
Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
Thanks, Mike

What exactly is not working in the Reference Manager for you?Originally Posted by RCA4697
Are you talking about xref paths?

Yes, i do not see a column or anywhere, where it gives me a choice to change drawings from full paths to relative paths. is there any other way to do them? (im talking about apprx. 200 dwgs.)
-thanks

thank you, but that means that i would have to input the file names for every dwg separately.
ex: A\FILE\FILE\FILE\FILE.dwg (lets say this if full path)
when i edit the paths ill have to edit them 1 by 1 because if not ill be replacing the file.dwg for all the dwgs. and i do not want to change that. might as well go to every dwg and open 1 by 1 and change everything manually 1 by 1.
I guess if every drawing is going to have a different relative path - that is true,Originally Posted by RCA4697
We use a documented directory structure here, so this problem shouldn't occur.
If a bunch of drawings were moved from
P:\Jobs\67859-09874\old\dwg
to
X:\Jobs\32112-00983\dwg
...and the xrefs were in the numerical directory part, then the relative path would be changed from ..\..\ to ..\ and it would work regardless of the DriveLetter:\Jobs\ part.

Ok, now there is an issue. i tried the redir command and it changes everything nice. in our company we are all inhouse. (arch and engineers) can someone please explain how paths work? example. (what does ..\arch or .\arch or ..\..\..\arch ) what does all those dots mean? i know for engineers it shall be different. but ive seen all these different paths.
-thanks
