Default how to show acoustic tile ceiling dashed

Is there an easy way to show the ceiling grid of acoustic tile ceilings as dashed lines? I've tried using phases, but it has no effect on the surface pattern. Thanks.

    Hi Archman,
I've encountered the same problem when demolishing ceilings (still using 8.1 here, so I can't be sure about V.9).
It isn't possible to override the surface pattern unless you change the material for the ceiling, or paint a new material onto the surface. I have yet to find a dashed line surface pattern that replicates an exposed grid. Can't make a new one because only continuous linetypes are available for creating surface patterns.
As I see it, your only chance is to import an AutoCAD hatch pattern that looks like a dashed ceiling grid and scale it to suit.
    Cheers,
    Mark
