Default Copy Color Fill Legend to another Project?

Anybody know a way to do this and get the color settings to come acrosS?
Projects wouldn't necessarily have all the same rooms so I guess it woulnd't be possible

Certainly in v9 I don't think it can be transferred between projects... if that's the case - one for the wish list I suppose

As long as schemes are set up and values are not assigned automatically you should be able to cut and paste from project to project.

HCSL -have you done this successfully? Can you explain an exact process. I couldn't get it to work and keep the same color settings.

OTOH, I found that I could tile the project windows, open the color scheme in one and add a color to custom color; then open color scheme in the other project and the custom color is still there to be selected. This at least makes it easier.

I swear I did yesterday John! Just created one scheme in one project and copied to clipboard, pasted into the other project and it appeared.

I can't for the life of me get it to do it today though. I've tried every sequence and option I can think of to duplicate what I did yesterday without success. I'll keep looking at it to see what I did, or just chalk it up to one of those 'computer things'.

I know this post is ancient but I came across it today.

This process can be done easily with newer releases of Revit.
The easiest method is to use Transfer Project Standards (Manage tab of the ribbon) and transfer the Color Fill Schemes from one project to another.
Revit will preserve the colors you have assigned to each value in the legend. Also, the properties you used for the Room Name, or whatever property you are using for the color fill scheme, will come over as well.
This makes it easy when you are assigning standardized room types, room categories, etc. that may apply to many projects.

    For example:
    Administration
    General
    Public
    Corridors
    and so on...

This is really useful because you can standardize not only your colors but also how you name these room types so that designers don't have to type it in on each project and risk being inconsistent. You can really fine tune the color scheme for each of these room types and then use that Color Fill Scheme on any project to keep the color coding (and naming) consistent.

BTW, simply copying and pasting the Color Fill legend from one project to another doesn't seem to work, even with Revit 2020 or 2021. Transfer Project Standards always works reliably.

I hope this helps out a newer user that is trying to harness the power of color fill legends

    Cheers,
    Patrick Villella
