Default Two-Color Gradient Hatch - Keeps Original Angle

    AutoCAD 2006

After hatching with the two-color gradient hatch, I copied and rotated the hatched area to a different file and the pattarn kept the original angle. In the original location, the two color pattarn are white and grey (grey on both sides and white in the middle - second gradient option in the list). This pattarn is vertical. When it was copied to another file and rotated, the grey colors kept the verticality instead of rotating to the new angle. Is this how it is supposed to be? This will be a problem with shading or adding a quick shadow.

Is there a way to control it's direction regardless of what the new copied angle might be?

Don't rotate it. Hatchedit it and change the angle definition.

Thumbs down Re: Two-Color Gradient Hatch - Keeps Original Angle

    MIKE:
That's exactly what I meant. You know I read the post and the links but it did not occour to me they are the same - guess the English language sometimes eludes me as a second language. This issue should not be so, but is either a bug or will be part of
    AutoCAD12.

    JABERWOK:
I have to rotate it in the current location. The original location was just a drawing as a new sheet, then I have to move it to my site plan which is not rectilinear. The image is a fuel tank I used the gradient hatch to create a cylindrical effect. So, which ever way I go, I have to rotate the other hatch for visual purpose. This practice is wrong for a "big" a software as AutoCAD. Hope this is a bug!

I will just have to rotate anyone of them to what I would like to see since I only have only three hatches to rotate.

    Thanks all for the information.

Oops! Just did a test before sending this message. It does not work if I change the angle of the whole hatched area. Really bad and disappointing. Practically it works but graphically (visually) it looks wrong. When rotated, the end colors would have different ratio size from the original.
