Hatch - Surf pattern problem

I'm trying to make a fairly simple hatch pattern, I've made it 2 ways once with hatch kit and once with hatch maker. Both work fine in autocad but I can't get it to scale up big enough in revit it. Its all straight lines so it shouldn't be too tough. Its a cut limestone pattern, 16" horizontal lines and then random diagnol sloping lines to form a trapezoidal stone shape. Here is the pattern and it works up to 4" tall, but I can't make it bigger. If you know how to help, please do, I'd hate to have to draw all these little lines.

That pattern template is in a unit square and you'd expect it to scale on loading to Revit as although Revit places some vague limits on template size they have been experienced on much larger or on more complex patterns.

These are all untried suggestions:

1. Comment out all the horizontal lines by placing a semicolon at the start of the line
e.g.
; comment 0,0,0.875,0,1,1,0


2. make all the horizontal lines "infinite" by removing the last two items from each
e.g.
0,0,0.875,0,1


3. check you have the right units at the start of the pattern file - for imperial units it would be the default
;%UNITS=INCH

(I doubt this is relevant unless you are working in metric in which case
;%UNITS=METRIC
would be needed.

4. Scale the pattern to full size within HatchKit.

This almost worked it let me scale up to 40 times however that wasn't quite enough and it dropped the horizontal lines all together.

Commenting out the horizontal lines does remove them from the pattern - uncomment them and they should reappear. BTW the last two lines in your posted pattern are identical when plotted - you only need one or the other.

I suspect you are still breaking one of Revit's undocumented limits on reasonable size and/or complexity and offer the attached pattern as a test. It is is based around 6 horizontal lines, rather than the original nine (eight), with the vertical repeat skewed from the original (0,1) to (0.4,0.75)to break up the vertical tiling effect. In effect it is the lower 75% of your original.

Try scaling it to your requirements as you load to Revit or scale to size with HatchKit then load to Revit at 1:1.

Well thanks again, however yours will only scale about 24 times and is less than 4" in height. I guess revit just can't handle this pattern. I'm going to file a support request. Thank you.
