Default Some TIFF's not showing as transparent in PDF

    Howdy y'all,

Funny how the really important problems pop up just before a deadline.

I've got a group of drawings that I'm using scanned tiffs as the basis of an existing site and building, with solid hatches to highlight areas. I've got he tiffs set to transparent. They show fine in ACAD and in print preview, but in the final PDF files, the tiffs aren't see-through and hide the hatch. Any ideas?

another problem I'm having is that the printers in ACAD are shfting the tiffs when I use them. Everything shows fine on preview. the DWF printer does the same thing.

    Doug:

What PDF engine and version are you using?
Do you lhave lines overwrite/lines merge control in your PDF engine?
Is there an example you can post?

Also check the tiff type. Grayscale won't be transparent, since every pixel is shaded. Only bitonal images can be transparent.

Check to make sure that on draworder, the image is on the back. Also, a problem I ran into a while back (ended up calling autodesk) is on CAD options, go to the plot publish tab. Try deselecting the box "enable background plot" - "plotting".

send the TIFFs to back or vectorize the tiff`s content...
You could also try changing the PDF exporter...

We had this problem with images and wipeouts and the way we solved it is to write them to a eps file then us adobe distiller to create the files. Abit long winded I know but it worked.
