Post Window Trim - Wall Sweep or Part of Family

I want to put trim around windows. I tried using a wall sweep, but I couldn't have separate pieces of vertical trim where windows were vertically stacked. It just ended up being one long vertical piece of trim. For the time being, I just left it as one piece, however I would like to address the problem before a review meeting next week. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best method to accomplish this?

Can you send an example image of what you're trying to accomplish?

I have a suggestion, if I'm understanding your question correctly. I have a double hung window with interior trim. In this window family, I've nested a transom window on top, which I can turn 'On' or 'Off'. When the transom is off, the trim rests on top of the window like it should, when I turn the transom on, the trim jumps up to the top of the transom, no matter how tall the transom is. What I did to accomplish this, is draw the sweep for the trim to reference planes that move not with the window per se, but with the height parameter of the transom and the visibility of the transom. That is, the formula would read something like this:
If transom is on, then trim is window height plus transom height, if transom is off, trim is height of window. See below - and I hope this answers what you are asking.
