Question Export to Acad crashes ADT2006+2007

I want to export the attached file to Acad 2000 using the export to Acad option of the file drop down menu, however when I do so the computer crashes stating a runtime error.
Any ideas? This happens to just this drawing and I have tried it in ADT2006 & ADT2007.
It was created in house in ADT2005+6 and we have no third party plug ins.

One word of warning! If anybody does open the attached drawing and tries to export it, then please ensure you have saved anything you are currently working on, I would hate to be responsible for anybody losing their own work.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Hi Steve,

It worked without crashing here (2006), but the file size went from 1.36M to 24.02M

    Maybe that's a clue?

    Also, this didn't include the xref Scheme 2 - 784.L. 204-211 - PA Plans & Elevations.dwg, of course.

Oh yeah I forgot about the xref (now attached). I can save it as 2000 just not export but even saving as triples the file size.

I've tried it on three comps here and my home one last night and they all crashed. I think I'll just tell our consultant to buy the latest version of Acad or they will have to make do with PDF/DWF's, I have spent for too long messing about with this already.

Actually the xref doesn't really need to be there. I've just deleted it and tried exporting and it works although as you say the file size jumps upto 23mb.

Cheers Tim thanks for taking a look.

I'd suggest deleting layer filters and Registered App as these tend to increase file size by a lot. Just a thought.

I can export to autocad just fine - of course I did a couple things first.

First I recovered the file. It fixed 3 errors.
Then I did -PURGE and purged all regapps twice.
Next I did -PURGE and purged all twice.
Saved, closed and reponed ADT. Opened the drawing and then used export to AutoCAD 2000 and it went through alright. File size is about 3.8 megs which I attached for fun.

Another thing you can always try in the future is to use the commend AECOBJEXPLODE.

    Thanks Steve

It really frustrates me when we have to save to earlier versions, its just a pain in the @ss. Surely if we can afford as a company to buy a seat of the current software then so can these multi millionaire developer types.

    Sorry gripe over.
