    Default A 1/2 Day w/ Mech. Layers

    Arghhh....

Would anyone share their exp. w/ re-assigning Mech. Layers and have a working set for me to use as a pattern (DWT and/or CFG file)?

I feel I wasted a good half day.

Just loaded setting up Mech 2007...

The Mechanical Layer paradigm bit me where it hurts....again.

From a past 11 yr. CAD Design position at another company w/ Mech.2000 & NO renaming layers to rename all you want now in 2004 & up (2007 Mech.)

After carefully re-assigning colors and layers nothing came out looking 'right':
White thick solid lines for center lines in STD HOLES, etc.

I was hoping to apply a layer naming convention/CAD STD at my P/T contract (long story - no current CAD standards and sole CAD dude here w/ new CADD software/computer...GASP!)

I hit the 'Default' button and humanely put another of my attempts out of its misery!

There's freedom from the default limitations of Mechanical's ANSI standard.
As I just read that all you must do is under Options....

    T Y P E a new standard IN the related field.

Go ahead and say it.... "DUH"

Conservative lil me thought you were limited to the pulldown's choices.

Typical male reaction to reading manuals --- as the last thing.

    A glimmer of hope shines!!!

How about it there, 'Two-Bren' -

Do you use the default layer names or have you been able to work around this issue?
Also, did you take any formal training?

So 'that' gray hair was the glimmer I saw. Ah-ha.

    I love this stuff!

    Formal training, ha..

    I have been using the default layers, I just renamed them in my template so I know what they are (AM_Hidden means more to me than AM_2);

    I haven't had any problems....yet
