    Default Surveyor Point Name Standards

I'm trying to find a list of standard point names for our surveying department. When we move them from Land Desktop to Civil 3d, we are going to need them.

Names like crown, tc, fl, bsw, cp, ep...

It would be much easier if I could find a premade list and edit it, than get him to find time to write down everything they use.

    Thanks

Hi "dplotts" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Standards forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here.

    Thanks, Mike

What do you use currently? I would start there.

Currently we don't have a list, it's just whatever the field crew wants to use. There is no standard at this point.

Im with a civil engineering firm thats partnered with a surveyor, but what I would do is just get a list of what all the crews use and compile them into a Master List and distribute them to the other crews.

We use the U.S. National CAD Standard layer names. I'm looking for some list of standards on point names, if there is one. This is kind of why I put this thread in the cad standards forum.

Here is a list of Survey Descriptions that I use. It is not comprehensive. It is just something that I have tried to refine for a workable list.

I used to work for an engineering company that has an in-house survey department. Attached is an excel sheet of the codes we used at that time. It might help get you started.
