When saving an edited xref using the REFCLOSE command, AutoCAD 2005 saves in the 2005 drawing format, not the default format specified in the Options dialog box. Is there a workaround for this?

I moved this post the 2005 general forum, as it seems you are asking a question. If you indeed find that a work around is not possible, and this is truly not a feature in 2005, please feel free to repost in the wish list forum in the form of a wish for the next new version
Thanks
Nope. Only option is to convert the files back later. Not good for those that need to work in a mixed version enviornment.
this problem also occurs when doing a batch save via the sheet set.
I learned that one the hard way.

i save everything in r2005 and when i need to save drawings to a previous release i copy the dwg files to a temp folder and batch convert them down, then delete from the temp folder
i do this in an effort not to overwrite my 2005 files, so far so good

yeah, well, lets just say someone could pre-release test a software package, and so need to have everything saved back down to be read by their production version. And it could be months after the uninstall of said beta software that there was a purchase of software which could read the aformentioned files.
Now that I actually own the final product, I do as you do with the separate folder.
