Snap

One of the things that is giving me the most trouble in Revit is snap. I am familiar with the "SE, SM" snap overrides and the "tab" toggle, but I still have a hard time snapping on certain elements - Revit keeps trying to out quess me. Any one have any tips?

Use the TAB key, this cycles through the various selection options for you. Pay close attention to the status bar, as what you are cycling through (elements, etc) will show there.

Sorry for my misread of the thread.

What I have learned is that the granularity of the zoom is the issue. If you want to snap to something very precise, you must be close enough for Revit Structure to pick the right one. Most users I see try to snap when the entire model is present rather than zooming in a bit.

One thing that I really dislike about snaps, in a plan view, you almost have to hide your columns when placing framing as RS tends to want to snap to the mid point of the col web all the time. I find the same thing happening in elevation while doing brace frames. Another screwy one is placing braces in plan. If your level is set to top of steel when you place the brace and later offset your beams for slab thickness, it works fine, but if you have your beams offset for the slab while placing braces in plan, it will place the high point of at the mid point of beam, but at the level in elevation (ie the same point as the analytical line) Very screwy.
