How do I insert JPG into CAD without referencing it to the drawing file?

I am trying to insert a jpg into my CAD drawing. yes I do now how to insert the jpg by using the image manager function, but I don't want the image to be referenced back to the image file. I have tried to explode it, create a block, etc but have had no luck. could someone please help me?

#1 It can't be done because acad does not know how to store raster data.

#2 The only way around (AFAIK) is to open the file in a paint/photo type programme and copy & paste into acad. This gives you an OLE object - the quality of which can vary greatly. Try it, it may be good enough.
