Unhappy Starting up a New CAD Management System

I have been asked to set up the CAD standards for our Company. No standards are currently in place, so I am starting from scratch...eek!
I have tried to write them myself, but with nothing to base it on, I get stuck. Can anyone please help with the following?

    1) Are there any international standards available that I can use as a start point?
    2) What should I focus on specifically?

My finger nails have gone, and my hair will soon follow, so please if there is any information that you have that could help me, I would appreciate it.

    Shona,
In addition to Mike's links, you might specify which field you are in so that we could answer the question if there are any pre-existing standards. They vary from discipline to discipline.

Also, on starting a poll, the questions should be of mulitple choice type. I would answer "yes" to both, but a poll will only let me choose one. IOW, they need to be related to the same theme. Since they don't, you could have simply asked them in your post. HTH.

    Thanks.
I'm involved in the Architectural industry.

The poll was an accident. I didn't change the Poll box to no poll, and once selected I couldn't remove it so I just wrote something......sorry......
