Default Get the linear dimension to operate as a multiple command?

Is there a way to get the linear dimension to operate as a multiple command?

I am guessing a toolbar button could be made to do this but I am not sure how.

Often when I am done designing I am placing all of the dimensions.
A so called "Dimension multiple" would be very handy.

    Hi Robert,

Maybe you would like to give this site a try. It has a free add-on and this add-on includes a function that does exactly what you want.

    http://www.nyacad.com/NYacadFREE.htm

    I hope this helps.

Along with QDIM you can look at the DIM CONT command. Create one linear dimension then use the continue command to create additional dimensions.

DimCont doesn't work out for me since I am not continuing dimensions.
My dimensions are placed in various locations around my part designs.

Qdim doesn't work well with my part designs.
All of my objects are closed polylines and Qdim goes nuts with
overlapping dimensions. I also get unwanted dimensions.
It works for some objects but it isn't good for everything.

Currently I end up exiting and restarting the dim linear command.
Now if I could keep the dim linear command going so that I would
not have reinitiate it every single time.

I could be finished with my drawing, placing 6 dimensions, and reinitiating
the dim linear command for all 6 dimensions. Ouch!

I guess I'm not understanding your problem.

I execute the dimlinear command, draw my dimensions, then hit return and it repeats the dimlinear command so I can create another dimension.

Can you define what you mean by "dimension multiple"? Are you just trying to avoid hitting return?

Replace ^c^c_dimlinear with *^c^c_dimlinear. (Put a "*" at the beginning).

The first response is "invalid" but ignore that and it keeps working.

That is weird. When I hit enter, it then asks me to select object to dimension.
I can chose an object at that point.

After that, it reverts to picking 2 points again.

It is still going to do what I need.

    Thanks for the info.

I wasn't thinking hard enough to try a good ole "*".

Hi. I use dimlinear from a toolbar, and I have a problem with putting the * in front of the macro. Only the first dimension goes to the specified layer in the properties of the tool. the others go into the 0 layer. Any ideas why or how to make it work like I want?

If that is from a toolbar button, it's a custom one and can be modified further. If it's actually from a Tool palette, then I don't know but others around here will.
