Angry Fatal errors with Civil 3D 2007

i see a lot of great new features here...but seems like every time i work with a pipe network that i had originally developed in 2006, i get a fatal error.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled and did an install "repair" several times....it is killing my production....am i the only one with this problem?

You're not alone. We have been requesting a lot of assistance with our crashing issues from Autodesk support and our reseller with little progress. Sometimes our drawings get to the point where they won't open anymore and we're retrieving from last night's backup tape. In our experience with C3D 2007, there are problems. We haven't started a new project from scratch using C3D 2007 yet. We have just been working from our 2006 projects. Our crashes range from modifying labels to just drawing plain old lines. So in our case, it's very hard to pinpoint a particular event that prompts a crash. It's random and very frequent. I am delaying my company-wide deployment of 2007 until it becomes more stable. Hopefully they will fix a lot of the issues in the first service pack.

I heard through the grapevine that SP1 for '07 'may' be released as early as June 12, but probably closer to the 17th.

I have been working with C3D for about 3 weeks now and get multiple fatal crashes daily. Is this what others are experiencing?
At this point I can not recommend moving the rest of the dept. to C3D. We started this current project from scratch using C3D.
when it works it's great but I haven't been able to use it without a fatal error for more that a few hours at a time.
Some of the causes I have been able to figure out, like if you try to create sections and your corridor needs to be rebuilt it crashes. If you are modifying surface points and try to use a crossing window to select, C3D just freezes. Most of the fatals seem to occur randomly and can not be repeated.
I was really hoping this would be a usable program as it has much promise, I just can't see using it as unstable as it appears.

    NickB,

Are you experiencing these crashes with SP1 installed?

SP1 has fixed 99% of our issues. We just have one minor issue now that looks to be related only to a particular drawing. Crashing problems are gone.

SP1 was installed and was no better, just different problems.
