Xref with Field for filename, not updating when Xref'd

my xref is a title block, and on the xref i have a field for the filename.
usually this field would change to whatever the drawing name is that it has been xref-ed to.
but for some reason it just stopped, and now it shows the name of the xref draing itself.
the only way to get it back to the way it was is to re-xref it into the drawing.

is there anyway to prevent from having to re-xref all my drawings?
What am I doing to make it mess up?

What happens if you perform a _.Regen or _.RegenAll ?

Plus, maybe look at system variable FieldEval ( it may have changed, thus causing the issue / problem you are currently experiencing ).

regen and regenall didnt work, but i did change that system variable, and that seemed to do the trick.
