Default Saving a (Revit Structure 2) model in Revit Structure 3

    Hi There,

I am new to Revit and Forums.
Just wondering if anyone could be kind enough to help out with a simple question?
Can I keep working on my Revit Structure 2 model in Structure 2 once it has been worked on and saved in Revit Structure 3?

    Thanks,

    V.P.

I don't use Revit Structure but I presume Revits are all alike.
So, no I don't think that would be possible.

There is a forum specific to Revit Structure somewhere on the forum list- I can't be of much help to you either.

    Hi,

I moved this thread to the Revit Structure General forum.

The answer to your question is no. There is no Save to Earlier versions option. A team must agree to upgrade or not as a team.

Also keep a few additional points in mind:

    1. You'll have to upgrade your file. Simply open an RS2 central file in RS3 and the process will begin. We've had a large model take up to an hour to upgrade. I've also found I've needed to reload some families from the new version to avoid additional errors.

    2. As mentioned before, you can't backsave.

    3. And the biggy: All members of the design team must be on compatible versions.

    Revit Building 8.1 = Revit Structure 2
    Revit Building 9 = Revit Structure 3 = Revit Systems 1
    Revit Building 9.1 = Revit Structure 4 = Revit Systems 2

    Confusing, isn't it?

You can open (link) in a file from just about any version of acad to RS3 and now RS4. You can export to just about any version as well, but the older the version the data loss you will have. ie I can't export a RS3 (or RS4 I'm assuming) to ADT2006 as ADT/ABS objects, but I can export them to 2007 ADT/ABS objects. So I guess the answer is yes and no. It depends on what you are trying to get.
