Default RE: BUG - Save 2007 DWG format down to 2000 format - Copy, Paste and others stop working

Anyway, it seems this thread only discusses 2007. I am having same problem when opening with AutoCAD 2006 and saveas 2000. When open with 2000 copybase/copyclip/wblock(selecting objects) fail. The AutoCAD command line reports "Error writing/closing file".

Since 2006 does not have acdb17.dll, which is what the hotfix is (replacing acdb17.dll) I am stuck.

    Any help, please?

Hi, I have moved this thread from the AutoCAD 2007 forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here. Thank you.

I wanted to clarify, is this only happening in base AutoCAD? Do you have one of the Autodesk Desktop (Land, Architectural, etc.) products as well?

Also confirm you have enough room on your Hard Drive (which is the first place to check when a Error writing/closing file issue occurs).

You say you are opening the file with A2006. Was it also created in A2006 or could it have been created with A2007?

-Thank you for the suggestions, etc.

-I can't open 07 with 06 (07 has new 07 format dwgs') I don't know if created in 07 and saved as 06 before I got them but the files I open are 06 [=04=05=same format] files.

-Also, I only have Base AutoCAD -- (the files sent to me could have been from another AutoDesk product. I suppose, then there could be something from another product causing this? I will have to watch for missing AEC-etc messages when I open...

-Disk space was checked -- further, I can still copy base when opening other files.

-(My problems seems to be similar to what people describe happens saving 07 to 00) but I not see a fix for 06, only a fix for 07?)

Have you tried the 2000 from 2007 Find Utility (found further down the page)? This should let you know if a 2007 product has ever saved the file.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Why don't you use the DWG TrueCconvert?

I'd say its about 90%+ likely that they were at one time opened in 2007 and saved down to a 2006 file. If you follow the instructions in Opie's link you'll likely be able to resolve your issue.
