Default Change the way Structural looks in Course Detail Level

Is there any way to set this? As architects, we really never need/want to see that schematic line for structure, we want to see the form. But sometimes (like most of the Schematic Design phase?) we want to use Course Detail to keep the graphics simple, and get a nice fill in the cut form. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Gordon

Under View visibilty, just change the detail level of your struct components to fine.

We have had this same problem, and i couldnt for the life of me figure out where that schematic line came from in the family to delete it. Ended up having to remodel them all simply for us architects and then link the parameters to the catalogue text file.

Playing around with the family you will see that they have modelled two solids - one simplified and the other exact. These show according to view detail.

I don't know where the simplified lines are (never looked for them) but another way to handle this is to modify the solid of your choice (I'd go with the one that has fewer polys myself) to display at Course scale as well. I don't mind the simple version of columns or even beams in plan but in sections and elevations they just don't cut it.

The analytical lines annoyed me too much, and some of the newer guys in the office kept "loosing their beams" when only the analytical line showed up in plan. Also, for some reason, this analytical line was about 500 away from where the modelled beams should have been.

I changed the visibility settings for the modelled elements but then i had a beam modelled as well as the analytical line about 500 away. Eventually i gave up because i couldnt find the stupid line in the family, so i remodelled it!

Dunno if i could have fixed it easier another way, but i figured this way i knew exactly what was in the family.

Why didn't you just set the structural to fine or medium for all views?

Like i said, they newer guys in our office kept "losing" their beams. Couldnt get through to them that they just had to change the detail level, so i gave up and re-made the family so that it showed the modelled element no matter what.

EDIT - Okay sorry, just re-read your post. Could have done that i guess. Anyway, now i have a family that works no matter what!
