Default Using Open Type fonts in AutoCAD LT 2006

Recently I was handed a project that involves using our company font in the drawing. AutoCAD 2006 LT has no problems using true type, but what about open font? I have tried to figure a work around & the only option I have found is typing in Word or Excel & using the copy command then pasting in the drawing. The problem with that is that I also get the background from Word or Excell in my drawing & it just looks like a huge rectangle. Is there anyway to get LT2006 to recognize open fonts or am I stuck tracing the font after imported into my drawing?

    Issue
After you installed an Open Type font in Windows, the font was not displayed as an option in any of the dialog boxes in the program.

    Solution
Current products do not support the use of Open Type fonts in text editing or creation dialog boxes.

uh oh...looks like I'm stuck tracing. hopefully they patch this in the near future
as open fonts is gaining popularity.
    thanks for quick response
