Default Where do you open your drawings from?

I saw a response to a previous question and was wondering if how people open their drawings reflects what version of AutoCAD or Windows they started using the softeare with?

Foe me I started with R9 in school and only had the option to open drawings from the command line. I think that is why I open my drawings from AutoCAD and not the windows explorer.

I remember from the early DoS versions, opening from the DoS prompt and closing AutoCad before opening another drawing, what a pain that was! Now I tend to open single drawings from within AutoCad or lots of drawings from Explorer. I also use our Batch Manager quite a lot to run scripts on files, does that count as an opening method? There is also the open from Xref manager option and RefEdit is a kind of open.

I also cut my teeth on r9 and do recall trying to open drawings there. Oye! At the company I was at before here we opened drawings from Windows Explorer almost exclusively. Here, now, I've gotten in the habit of opening drawings from within ACAD. Lately, I've been more and more in the practice of using Sheet Set Manager for opening existing drawings.

I try to open my drawings from ACAD, but I'm used to using PowerDesk, and with the ability to keep two folders open at once, it really helps when working with multiple projects.

I open my drawings from within AutoCAD. I used to use explorer alot but found that being impatient I would inadvertently try to open a second drawing while the first was still opening which would cause Autocad to want to cache in excess of 500 megs and more of memory before starting, and the initial amount of memory needed would gradually increase to over a gig. This had happened on several machine in my group, the response from Autodesk was to only start a drawing from within AutoCAD.

    Exclusively from within Autocad.
Especially after using the "recent.vlx" available fro DotSoft allowing choosing from a listing of many more recent drawings opened than the default. This is helpful with LDT3.

I am trying to train myself to open drawings from a folder containing sheet sets.
Really tough to teach a cad wiz some new tricks. I have the folder docked to the
windows taskbar and seldom use it to open drawings.

It depends. Typically my first drawing I open by searching and clicking (in a program very similar to a more robust Windows Explorer) then after that I open them from AutoCAD.
