I just started to mess with dynamic blocks and really like what I see. I will be updating all of my piping blocks to DB's. Is everyone else doing this?

Yes
No
I don't know what Dynamic Blocks are.

I've converted a few, but most are still non-dynamic. I have not found a lot of use out of them for civil work.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

So far, I don't see any point in using them for mechanical.
I've been messing with them a bit, but we really don't use blocks at all.
Personally I'd add Dynamic Blocks, but I doubt I'd update too many of my existing blocks unless I had a good reason (need) to do so....
I am not in the Civil industry, but rather the manufacturing...It is kind of different...I run the CAD department and create drawings for "instruction manuals" (more like details of the product we sell)...These IM's include a riser diagram...This is where Dynamic blocks have really increased production...These risers are similar to those on Arch. dwgs with a little more detail since we know what is being installed...
I updated our blocks to dynamic and it has saved about 30 minutes each riser that we do...While some are not that complex, others take up quite a bit of space...Granted there are features that I am waiting for regarding dynamic blocks like multiple visibility parameters, but what we have save so much time...There is still some tweaking that I need to do, but for 90% of our jobs, they work wonders...

What do you mean by Multiple Visibility Parameters? Aren't there already visibility parameters built it to dynamic blocks?
Multiple visibility parameters will help if only a certain portion of the block changes...There is 1 visibility parameter allowed per dynamic block...If I have a 2 gang lighting control station and it could have any combonation of 6 controls, the total number of items in the visibility list would be 36 items long...If multiple visibility parameters were allowed, then you would just need 2 lists of 6 items instead of the 1 list with 36 items...Originally Posted by boesiii
I hope this makes sense...I work in the Arch & Theatrical lighting controls industry and the example above is the best I could do...If this is not clear, please let me know your field and I will try to think up something that you can relate to better...Thanks...
I have had to put No on the poll because I dont know much about it but if i can find the time to look into how they work I would use Dynamic Blocks.
