Default Paint textures onto a model

A while back I say a demo of a program called deep paint. What a great tool for painting textures onto a model that I don't think is like texture baking. The steps are differant for sure. For a long time, 3dmax has suffered from rough looking models because the textures always tiled. I would like to propose a vextex paint similar plugin that would paint textures onto a model. The paint brush palette could be replaced with a texture since how you want it, brick for instance.

Photoshop CS3 Extended has the ability to paint textures directly onto a model. You can also import .3ds formats (as well as quite a few others) directly.

Drawback: PS CS3 Extended costs a grand.

Although I'm happy using UV Unwrap and bringing that into PS, I would prefer to use this method over an editor inside 3ds for Photoshop's ease of use (I've been using it for years), power, reputation.

Autodesk would have to do something extremely spectacular for me to abandon Adobe as my primary image editor.

    My $.02,

You can do this and sooooooooooo much more with ZBrush. And it doesn't cost a thousand bucks either.

I've heard of ZBrush, but have never really looked at it.

Photoshop could never do what ZBrush is capable of doing. Don't get me wrong i will only use photoshop for image editing but ZBrush is a whole other animal especially as it relates to the 3d world. Check this out and you get a better picture of what i'm talking about.

The only problem with ZBrush is the learning curve. They have a wacky, unconventional interface and workflow. Its worth learning though...and with video tutorials its not too bad.
