If your management cannot make this engineers compliance with standards a condition of employment, then I agree with you, it is hopeless.Originally Posted by Inferno6919

Personally, I'd take Autocad off him altogether. If he hasn't got it he can't mess it up. Give him Volo View so he can look at drawings.
Yeah I agree. Unfortunately it may come to that. I accept it or leave.Originally Posted by rkmcswain
That would be a great option if only he didn't need it to draw (if you can call what he is doing "draw"). I do intend to isolate him anyway. He can carry on breaking the standards while everybody else follows them. He will stand out of the crowd in a very bad way.Originally Posted by paddymackey
I like the idea of showing a negative ROI for his actions.
You start talking money and "white shirts" listen.
That's the only option now isn't it? They need to see the production going down in order to do something about the problem. They will have people complaining (apart from me), problems with the systems very often, standards not being followed, etc. I do expect them to do something about it eventually.Originally Posted by madcadder
Demonstrate that someone had to work extra hours to fix his errors.
You got anybody that can get paid OT? It would be a loss for the company and a small
gain for someone who wants an extra few bucks.
Eventually the profit loss would generate a buzz with management.
Maybe you could get him some other drawing software, that could open acad dwgs?
Then he could make his stuff the way he wants and not effect the rest of the group.
At least you have a server and standards, where I work the owner will not spend any money on making life easier, so we all have our own way of drawing, our own standards per person, also we run acad 2006, 2002 and r14 here.
Good idea. Try one of these versions of IntelliCADOriginally Posted by tbedrich

Would you like to employ an engineer who works exactly the way your company works????? I would happily trade him for a person with brains in his/her head!!!Originally Posted by tbedrich
