Question Change all Objects of one colour to another colour

    Hey,

I am wondering if anyone knows of a program or routine, that will allow me to change everything of a colour (lines, plines, bylayer) anything! into another colour. I am trying to say, change blue to red, green to yellow, etc. I would be awesome if this would also include blocks!

    Wow, I am a dreamer!

    Thanks for any help

    Travis

Why not use filters or quick select?

Well, depending on exactly what you want to do, there are a few ways to do this. If you want to change everything to a different color, just select everything and change the color in the object properties dialog (which you can open by hitting CTRL+1.

What version of AutoCAD are you using? That will help for the other ways

    Using AutoCAD 2005/2006
Changing color in the object properties box doesnt work, because i want to change the colours within a block, even if they are on bylayer or whatever.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks for the reply!

changing the colors within the block is going to be a little more difficult; everything else you can do via the object properties dialog...
On the object properties dialog there is a button that looks like a filter with a lightening bolt. That is the quick select tool. You can use that to select, say, all lines that are blue, and then change them to red, or whatever. You can also do that using the FILTER command, the dialog is pretty self explanatory..

Now, for the blocks..I am not sure how you would go about doing that, you may have to run the refedit command, and then run the filter command while editing the block.

I am going to move this over to the AutoCAD general forum, however, and hopefully someone can give you a better answer for the blocks.

Do you want to make these changes on screen or would you like to make all red objects plot as blue? If the latter, make changes in your stb or ctb plot configuration.

I want to make these changes on screen. Ive been told not to mess with the ctb configuration.

    Thanks!

Unhappy Re: Change all Objects of one colour to another colour

    Travis,
yes u can change all the colors to one but you will have to use refedit to change the blocks line colors and attribute edit to change the attribute text...this is the only way i can think of unless you redfine the block with the new colors
