Invalid or incomplete DXF input - drawing discarded

I was drawing along and all of a sudden a window popped up saying acad was shutting down but changes would be saved up to the last command.Now when I try to reopen file my command line says:
C:\Documents and Settings\vssi\My Documents\2006\IN\18305\INBup.dxf is not
valid DXF file
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
Press ENTER to continue:
What happened and where do I find my data from that file?I would just start over,which I will probably have to do anyway but it would be nice to know what I did.By the way I am running acad lt 2000

I just imported the dxf into Artcam Pro and it opens, strange.So I exported back out as a dxf and was able to recover my data that way.I would still like to know what happened.
