Default ADT dimensions - not working when saved to 2000 format

    hi guys

got a problem with an external architect who dose not use ADT

as all of our work is done using ADT we have to use external architects to do or alterations or use our house types to create new ones.

the architect we use has only R2000 so we have to down grade our dwgs to explode AEC drawings when e-tranmitting these to him.

but when it comes to update the dims the dimensions don't update when moved and the dim keeps the existing text

i've attached an example - if you strecth the dim it will not automaticaly alter the dimension text to the correct size - can some please help me as its driving me mad

    Hi Neil hows things?

I'm not sure how your drawing has got to the state its in, but it appears that every dim has been overridden (by mtext editing), if you go into each dim and type <> it will revert back to its intelligent status and update correctly when stretched etc.

The best way to do this IMO is to select one dim, right click and select similar, then go to your properties palette and under text override type <>.

    Hope this helps.

    hi steve

I thought someone would say this was the only way to resolve this problem, but surely there must be a command to over ride all the dims back to the <>, appart from.

Just had a quick go and if you select all the dims and right click properties you can over ride all the dims in one go.

still a pain to do but it's one step closer.

I expect you could get a lisp to do that as the drawing is opened...... but alas I'm not to great with autolisp yet.

What I don't understand is how your drawings are getting like that to start with, I've tried to reproduce it here but can't get the same problem, seems very strange.

We have ADT 2006 and under Express / Dimensions there is a tool Reset Dim Text Value.
I have not used it but seems pretty straight forward. Hope this helps
